Maximising student learning potential to create success for future pathways.
DOTS is a flexible learning program designed to provide education and support to vulnerable young people who have disengaged from or been excluded by schools or education providers, yet still have an aspiration to learn.
DOTS provides a safe and supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to embrace ‘learner choice and voice’. Students collaborate with their teacher to negotiate and develop an Individualised Learning Plan (ILP) tailored to meet each young person’s needs, personal interests, abilities and future aspirations, whether that be:
· Transitioning or returning to some form of mainstream education
· Work Ready – for those students wanting to begin some work experience, trial taster courses, volunteer, VETiS Courses, Safe@Work certificates, employment
· DECV (Distance Education Centre Victoria) – Year 9, 10 and VCE levels
At DOTS all students begin with a brief Induction Program and then work on an independent academic program that adheres to the standards set by the Victorian Department of Education and Childhood Development. Our students are also provided with opportunities to participate in small group work.
It is our intention at DOTS to reintroduce young people to learning, to build on their successes and provide a positive educational experience for all our students as they move towards their preferred adult pathways.
To express your interest in the DOTS program, please download and fill out this form and then return it to the college general office.
