Recently Jacob Rumler headed to Treasury Place, Melbourne, where 20 Koorie students from all over Victoria were awarded a two year Wannik Scholarship.
Jacob was chosen by a panel of members from the Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Inc. and the Department of Education & Training, based on his academic performance and participation in school and community activities. Minister for Education, The Hon. James Merlino MP, and the President for VAEAI, Geraldine Atkinson, hosted these students and their families in an Awards Ceremony to celebrate the successes of these Koorie students and all their educational achievements thus far.
At the ceremony Geraldine stated that: “The Wannik Strategy was designed to improve education outcomes for Koorie students. These scholarships will be able to provide our Koorie students with wonderful opportunities to harness their talent, skill and ability.” Jacob is a very worthwhile winner.
