Today, ninety-seven students at Phoenix sat the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC). It’s one of the largest mathematics competitions, demonstrating the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives. The competition is recognised internationally, and students compete from over 30 countries.
This was a chance to practice their problem solving skills and deep Maths understanding, and to test themselves against other Maths students across the country. Students completed a set of 30 problem solving questions in the junior, intermediate or senior divisions. These questions require to create new approaches and think about Maths in different ways.
Although there were a few technical issues with the competition, students showed their resilience by persevering and overcoming these difficulties.
Well done to all who accepted the challenge!
