Book Week is just around the corner and Phoenix P-12 Community College has a number of great activities and events across the week, running from Monday 12th – Friday 16th August. The Dress-up Competition will be held on the Friday, so start planning your costumes now! Students and staff will have the chance to vote for their favourite costumes, with the photo booth running in the LRC throughout the day.

Remember to bring along a gold coin donation when you dress up as your favourite book character. A reminder that for students who choose not to dress up, they are required to be in full school uniform as normal.

Activities throughout the week include:

  • Students will be able to make their own bookmark in the Picton open space at lunchtime.
  • Book Swap will run in Picton at lunchtime; simply bring a pre-loved book to enter, have a chat to other fellow bookworms, and leave with a new book to enjoy.
  • Staff and students will be able to participate in a dramatic reading session in the LRC, with lots of prizes to give away. Bring along a passage from your favourite book or poem to read.
  • The Ultimate Book Kahoot will also be running in the Picton open space at lunchtime. Bring a device to play along.

The Book Week Writing Competition will be open to both staff and students. The theme for this years writing competition is ‘Reading is my Secret Power’. All entries will need to be submitted either to English teachers, or placed in the submission box in Picton by Friday 16th August.

Be sure to come along to all of the great activities to help celebrate Book Week 2019!
