Wednesday 5th May, saw 350 students from across the region compete in the Ballarat Primary Schools Sports Associations Cross Country Championships at Lake Wendouree. Students were given the opportunity to compete around a picturesque course that encompassed the best and most challenging obstacles Lake Wendouree has to offer. Students in the 10yrs age groups were asked to complete a 2km course, while students in all other age groups competed in a 3km course. Each age group had an estimated 60 students competing in each event.

This year we sent our largest team with 24 students participating in the Cross Country Championships. All students competed at their best to add to our team scores. Students who finished in the top 24 places were successful in making it through to the next round. Ryder Blomeley finished in 14th place in the 11yr Boys 3km and successfully made it through to the next round to be held on Friday 14th May at Ballarat High School. We had multiple students from all age groups missing out by the narrowest of margins, with the majority of our students achieving a personal best time for the distance they covered.

It was wonderful to see so many family members attending and encouraging all Phoenix P-12 Community College students as they represented our College, with our best efforts yet in the BPSSA Cross Country Championships.
