On the 14th September we held our seventh annual Cabaret at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club.
JC Catering provided a delicious meal and the music was even better!
Firstly the Master of Ceremony for the Cabaret 2018 was Year 10 student Jessica Allan. She was in control of the entire proceeding and Jess was delightful to listen too. A brilliant job.
Eight ensembles performed at the cabaret. They were Phoenix Strings, Phoenix Guitars, Phoenix Singers, Phoenix Senior Band, Phunky Phoenix, Phoenix VET Year 11 Band, VET Year 12 Band and Phoenix Stage Band.
Items were quite varied in music genre. They ranged from ‘Pachelbel’s Canon’ to ‘Fast Car’ (Tracy Chapman), from ‘Overture Espanol, Greek Isle Adventure’ to ‘Detroit Rock City (Kiss)’, ‘Chameleon (Herbie Hancock)’ to ‘Zombie (The Cranberries)’ and ‘Wings (Little Mix)’ to ‘Superstition (Stevie Wonder)’. Over 30 different music charts.
There were 75 performers whom wowed the audience.
It was an awesome night of entertainment. I would like to thank all the music teachers involved in putting the Cabaret together for our students and families, obviously the students themselves, the school administration for their expertise and support and a huge thank you to Brendan O’Brien and Shane Parkinson for the sound engineering and loading, setting up and unloading the substantial amount of musical gear.
