Subject Selection – Vocational Education and Training (VET)
VET in a VCE or VCAL program allows students to include vocational studies within their senior secondary certificate.
Students undertake nationally recognised training from accredited state, curriculum or national training packages which may contribute to their VCE and/or VCAL.
These programs are designed by industry bodies to provide the skills that students will need to work in these areas. VET programs offered at Sebastopol Campus can be completed over 2 or 4 semesters depending on the certificate selected.
VET within a VCE program provides credit towards the VCE in the form of VCE VET units. VCE students will complete Scored Assessment Tasks and an exam which will combine to give them a certificate qualification and contribute to their ATAR score. The score is calculated based on your 4 primary subjects or can be 10% of your 5th or 6th subject.
VET within a VCAL program provides students with nominal hour credit which contributes to their VCAL Work Related Skills Unit and gives a certificate qualification.
VET programs may:
- Involve extra costs including industry specific materials, administrative and registration costs for VET programs which are paid for by both the student and the College. Please consult the Subject Costs section in the Subject Descriptions.
- Require a work placement during the program.
- Require a Certificate II in First Aid or a CPR update.
Sebastopol Campus offers a wide range of VET Subjects. VET subjects that can give credit towards your VCE certificate are in bold print.
