Instructions for completing subject selection sheet for students going into Year 9
Make selections for both semesters. In one of the two semesters you will undertake the Community Challenge program as part of your selections.
- You will still choose subjects from each Learning Area apart from German. If you wish to study German, you can choose it instead of a subject from any of the other Learning Areas, apart from English or Maths. In the second semester, you must substitute for a different Learning Area.
- In general, you will choose subjects at Year 9 for the first semester. If your results from the previous year are not satisfactory, you may need to continue at Year 8 level in that area of study. Your House Manager and your teachers will discuss this with you.
- Most students will continue to work at Year 9 level in Semester 2. In some cases, students may be able to move into one or more Year 10 level subjects, depending on results.
- You will not be able to move on to the next level in any Learning Area until you achieve a satisfactory standard at the previous level.
- Before you make your selection for each Learning Area, refer to your current classroom teacher and to the information page for each Learning Area for specific rules.
