Last week Phoenix P-12 Community College celebrated Book Week virtually. Thanks to those who got involved by dressing up as a Book Week character and sending through your photos.
We had great success conducting a P-6 Book Week Kahoot on WebEx with lots of families joining in.
Eli from Grade 3/4T who came 1st in our Kahoot quiz, Kyla from Grade 5/6 M in 2nd place and Miss Lonie, one of our school Tutors, coming 3rd.
Book Week 2021 saw Phoenix P-12 Community College once again dive deep into the world of books. Even though it didn’t exactly go according to plan, it didn’t stop Phoenix from celebrating in style!
To kick off our festivities, our writing competition for students and staff received a number of entries, with many wonderful stories inspired by the theme of ‘Old Worlds. New Worlds. Other Worlds’. This year’s prompt was ‘if you could live anywhere in the world’ and the creative worlds submitted by all entrants were fantastical and filled with imagination.
Our 2021 writing competition winners are:
- Years 7-9: Timothy Fellows
- Years 10-12: Abraxus Lichty
- Staff: Laura Benney and Fiona Ludbrook
Being at home didn’t stop our students from engaging in dress ups! From Preps to grownups, we received a massive number of pictures showcasing their costumes I know they spent a lot of time and effort on.
Students created bookmarks, played along with a Book Week Kahoot created by Mr Ridgway, and overall, showcased the spirit of Book Week at Phoenix through their continued engagement with reading and writing at home.
A massive congratulations to all students and staff who participated across the week. We couldn’t be prouder of our school community and hopefully next year, we will be able to celebrate all together!
