We certainly had a Mega Music Day with our young budding musicians, arriving at the Stawell Town Hall with much excitement. It is a beautiful building with excellent facilities for our musicians. The day is designed for students in their first and second years of music tuition. Students from Phoenix P-12 Community College, Nhill Secondary College, Horsham College and Stawell Secondary College attended. It was a mega band of approx. 80 musicians combined.

The aim was to learn five music charts in the morning and then perform them to the local primary schools after lunch. We also had students involved in demonstrating their instruments to the audience. The charts that we learnt were ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘Trombo Mambo’ (which featured the trombone section with Joshua Shaw really shining); ‘Geronimo’, ‘Spookyville’ and ‘Seasons of Love’ with vocalists. Another highlight was the huge muffins provided by Waack’s Bakery. Yummy!

Miss Felicity Liston also made her debut as a Conductor of the mega band. Thanks also go to Miss Samantha Harbridge and Mrs Karen Spiller for their tremendous input throughout the day.
